Strange News

Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with a Jackson cross burning.
Bill Sanders of Jackson was charged Wednesday with one count of arson, said Jackson Fire Chief Vernon Hughes.

It was unclear why Sanders, who is black, allegedly set fire to the cross.

"We’re not sure right now of his motive," said Hughes. "The only thing we know right now is he was looking for some sort of attention."

Nationalized Health Care

I "sorta" support the idea of a national health care system. The trouble is that once the U.S. starts such a program, and people become accustomed to the "right" to health care, they will then begin filibustering for the "right" to free housing, a new car, a plasma TV, an Ipod, an Iphone, etc., etc., etc.

The number of "rights" will be only limited by imagination. It used to be called "creeping socialism" and the leftists keep dreaming up more and more "rights" that the taxpayers must subsidize.

Iran poll

Good news from Iran which reinforces the goodwill of the world's people....

"In return for normal relations with the US, most Iranians were willing to recognize Israel and Palestine as independent states, ending Iranian supports for armed groups in Iraq, and adopt a transparent nuclear policy, Terror Free Tomorrow President Ken Ballen wrote in the Wall Street Journal."

Unhinged Kingdom

The U.K. is rapidly becoming a farce....

"First, they dropped Holocaust from the school curriculum because it "offends Muslims", and now they dropped Churchill - ‘the greatest ever Briton’."

Why Doesn’t Evolution Get Rid of Ugly People?

I've always wondered about diseases and other unwanted traits....

Evolutionary theory predicts that the unfeeling hand of natural selection would lead to a culling of disadvantageous traits—or, as biologists more delicately phrase it, "depletion of genetic variation in natural populations as a result of the effects of selection."

Nice Quote

"The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race … is to stop discriminating on the basis of race!"

Chief Justice John Robert, US Supreme Court (June 2007)

Sup with the Devil

Is the devil for real or only a scapegoat for our fears?

"...it’s stupid of modern civilization to stop believing in the Devil when the Devil is the only reasonable explanation for modern civilization. Like all celebrities, The Evil One goes in and out of fashion. He’s ignored at times, but he can often become an obsession."

Slow Motion Business Collapse

The leftist New York Times is in a slow motion business collapse. Even their new headquarters is infested with rats and other vermin.

Must be election time if Democrats are getting religion

Sicko

As of Tuesday, July 10, Sicko has grossed only $12.4 million after 19 days in release. These numbers are truly sicko compared to Moore’s previous efforts (or propaganda, some would say).

People are also avoiding Angelina Jolie’s latest movie. After 19 days in release A Mighty Heart has grossed only $8.5 million. I doubt this will even pay Jolie’s salary.

Both movies are political in nature and the producers seem to have missed any resonance with the viewing public. Rest in peace, Sicko and A Mighty Heart.

Moderate Islam

We should all sleep better at night after reading this....

"The moderate religion of peace recently fired a few of its executives in Switzerland for being too moderate."

Know you enemy

Words of Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini...

"Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! . . . Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and the shadow of the sword." (1942)

"Islam grew with blood . . . . The great prophet of Islam on one hand carried the Koran and in the other a sword . . . . Islam is religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people." (1979)

Valdez Oil Spill

"Six years after the cleanup, a study was conducted to determine ecological recovery in the sound. What researchers found was that the areas that were not cleaned were in better shape – with more wildlife and cleaner water and soil – than the areas that had been cleaned. The chemicals and high-pressure washing used to "clean" the area had destroyed the ecosystem in some parts of Prince William Sound."

"The environmental disaster was the cleanup," said Pitzer.

The Two Americas

"Could Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards actually be right about something? Not where to go to get a haircut, mind you, I mean about there being two Americas."

"There is the vibrant America ... and the stagnant one. There is the America of ever-increasing wealth, innovation, creativity, of a dynamic economy, new jobs, new products and services. Choices galore."

"And there is the politician’s America: The regulated America, the subsidized America, the earmarked America. The failing America."

Our Northern Border

...isn’t very secure either

"Between 2001 and 2006, the Border Patrol caught 56,883 people sneaking into the U.S. from Canada. Most came from countries where a Canadian visa is easier to get than an American one. In this sector, a 295-mile stretch from New Hampshire to Ogdensburg, N.Y., the patrol caught 12,334. With instructions from a smuggler, the interlopers usually tramp through the brush to a waiting car. Once, Mr. Hipsley ran into a family of Russians at this very spot. They were looking for a bus ride to New York City."

Detroit Wasteland

No one's accusing them of racism, yet.

"Grocery closings hit Detroit hard, city shoppers’ choices dwindle as last big chain leaves."

Honor Killings

"Jordan’s Parliament has rejected the senate’s recommendation to uphold a law providing stiffer penalties for men who kill women in so-called "honour killings".

Jordanian women are protesting this ruling in Jordan. See photo in story.

What Rule of Law?

"I think that when someone comes in this country illegally, it starts a tradition or culture," he said. "You come in illegally; everything you do from that point on is illegal. And so it’s almost impossible to get a driver’s license or insurance so you just start breaking one law after another. I think it’s seductive. I think after a while ... you don’t pay too much attention to rule of law that this country was established on."

China

I wonder why we don't do things like the Chinese. I can think of several names that deserve the same as this guy....

"China executed the former chief of its food and drug agency on Tuesday for taking bribes and dereliction of duty, amid increasing pressure on the country to improve the safety of its products after a string of highly publicized incidents have raised serious safety concerns over its products."

Did you know?

On this day in 1985, a special operation by the "action" branch of the French foreign intelligence services, the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure (DGSE) sank the Rainbow Warrior. The flagship of the Greenpeace fleet, the Rainbow Warrior, was blown up while she was docked in the port of Auckland, New Zealand, to prevent her from interfering in a nuclear test in Moruroa.

Fernando Pereira, a photographer, drowned on the sinking ship. Two of the French agents were subsequently arrested by the New Zealand Police on passport fraud and immigration charges. Following questioning, they were subsequently charged with arson, conspiracy to commit arson, willful damage, and murder. The ensuing scandal resulted in the resignation of the French Defence Minister Charles Hernu, and the subject became so touchy that it was not until twenty years afterward that the personal responsibility of French President François Mitterrand was officially admitted.

Hypocrisy

This man is a typical Democrat. Do as I say, not as I do.

"A state lawmaker who opposed a bill giving Texans stronger right to defend themselves with deadly force pulled a gun and shot a man he says was trying to steal copper wiring from a construction site, police said Monday."

Deep thoughts...

on Ron Paul...
Do we really need another Texan as president? Give it a rest. How about somebody from Tennessee?

on Katie Couric...
Even though she is a clueless harridan, I agree with her on the word, sputum. I don’t like it either.

from Rush Limbaugh...
(on Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson) They both do the same thing: they read a TelePromTer for 20 minutes, and play Preparation H commercials for the other ten.

Islam vs Christianity

"From Nigeria to Indonesia, Christians are under siege in virtually every single country in the Muslim world, the victims of countless acts of discrimination, depredation, brutality, and murder that are so widespread and systematic that it can rightfully be called the new Holocaust. This time, however, the perpetrators of this Holocaust aren’t wearing swastikas, but kufi skull caps and hijabs."

Evolution of Women

Good New for Smokers

"There is more evidence to back up a long-standing theory that smokers are less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than people who do not use tobacco products, researchers reported on Monday."

"The apparent protective effect of tobacco against the degenerative nerve disease has been observed for years but a University of California Los Angeles School of Public Health report said a new review of existing studies seems to confirm it, with long-term and current smokers at the lowest risk." Rest of story here

More Global Warming

Attention, Al Gore!

Fred Thompson

"Yet while Mr. Thompson is strongly conservative in word and deed, he is moderate and reassuring in bearing. When New York’s Sen. Hillary Clinton unleashes the Clinton attack machine against him — and she will — those tactics will fail. Mr. Thompson will rise above the stale negative politics of the 1990s. Americans immediately know Mr. Thompson is a man they can trust, and people of good will sense in him a firm and abiding character."

"I have worked in the conservative vineyards for more than two decades. I have seen sham conservatives and ambitious hucksters come and go. I know how to tell the real thing. Fred Thompson is the real thing: a leader, a conservative, a man of honor and — of utmost importance in facing the combination of Mrs. Clinton and a leftist media — a communicator and, absolutely, a winner."

Male sexual harassment

...for quite a few men, sexual harassment is indeed becoming a serious issue, and some men are deciding not to just brush aside the unwelcome advances from women and men.

More Chinese deceit

"...the EU detected excessively high levels of cadmium - a carcinogenic - apparently derived from fertilisers imported from China."

You wanted cheap goods didn't you?

Barack Obama

Obama claims that his father grew up herding goats. In reality, he was the son of a prominent and wealthy Muslim man and his son, Obama’s father, also Muslim, grew up in an environment of privilege and wealth as an outstanding student at a private school. He never herded goats.

No one ever meets any member his birth family, hears about them because they are traditional Muslims. Obama is clearly aware he needs to keep them under wraps because they prove beyond doubt that that his presentation of himself as the devoted, loyal, American citizen and hopeful for president is another premeditated deception.

Obama claims his name is African. It is actually Arabic-Muslim, comes straight from the Quran, and means ‘blessed’.

Cindy Sheehan

Won't this woman just go away!

I guess I am going senile but I would swear that Cindy said just a month or two ago that she was leaving the political stage to concentrate on her devastated personal life.

But no! Now she wants Bush impeached and is threatening to run against Nancy Pelosi if nothing is done.

Iraq

The Iraqis are not carrying enough of the load. This story illustrates the utter futility of our soldiers dying for these lazy, disorganized, lackadaisical people. Enough is enough! I say get out and let these miserable people sort it out on their own. I believe they want to live in the Dark Ages. So let them.

Military humor

On some air bases the Air Force is on one side of the field and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with the control tower in the middle. One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking, "What time is it?"

The tower responded, "Who is calling?"

The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?"

The tower replied, "It makes a lot of difference. If it is an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o’clock. If it is an Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours. If it is a Navy aircraft, it is 6 bells. If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 3. If it is a Marine Corps aircraft, it’s Thursday afternoon."

Jeremy Wariner

I wonder how Waco’s Jeremy Wariner (photo here) will do in the upcoming 2008 Olympics? Jeremy holds a personal record of 43.62 seconds in the 400 meters. Some believe that this distance is the hardest to run because it is a sprint, a very long sprint.

He won two gold medals at the 2004 Olympics.

Blacks

"In 1940, the illegitimacy rate among blacks was 19 percent, in 1960, 22 percent, and today, it’s 70 percent. Some argue that the state of the black family is the result of the legacy of slavery, discrimination and poverty. That has to be nonsense. A study of 1880 family structure in Philadelphia shows that three-quarters of black families were nuclear families, comprised of two parents and children. In New York City in 1925, 85 percent of kin-related black households had two parents. In fact, according to Herbert Gutman in The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom: 1750-1925, "Five in six children under the age of 6 lived with both parents."

"For while the organisers' commitment to save the planet is genuine, the very process of putting on such a vast event, with more than 150 performers jetting around the world to appear in concerts from Tokyo to Hamburg, is surely an exercise in hypocrisy on a grand scale."

"The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher."

750,000 a year killed

...by Chinese pollution

Beijing engineered the removal of nearly a third of a World Bank report on pollution in China because of concerns that findings on premature deaths could provoke "social unrest".

The report, produced in co-operation with Chinese government ministries over several years, found about 750,000 people die prematurely in China each year, mainly from air pollution in large cities.

Family blames rescuers

...in Garland boy’s drowning

People are becoming such assholes in this country. They love to blame anyone but themselves. How about a little more parental supervision? Why do some people expect others to risk their lives for someone's child who wasn't being supervised? It's a tragedy that only the parents could have avoided had they been using a little common sense.

Columbine Killers

I've always been a little sceptical of anything a psychiatrist says. You make the call....

Denial of access to computers led to massacre....

You wanted cheap goods, didn’t you?

"China is facing a global crisis of consumer confidence as the country’s food safety watchdog acknowledged this week that almost a fifth of the domestic products it inspects fail to reach minimum standards. Following a number of contamination scandals in the US, the world’s biggest exporter is struggling to prove that it can match quality with quantity."

Abortion

I ran across an article on the internet yesterday that said that since 1973 there has been an average of about 1.2 million abortions per year in the U.S. for a grand total of about 40 million.

That’s 40 million less citizens since 1973!

40 million!

And the writer of the article speculated that that is the reason why many of our Democrat and Republican leaders are pushing for the amnesty of 12 to 20 million illegals in the U.S. They are meant to be replacement tax-payers for the missing 40 million citizens.

The feminists have been quick to blame males for all their perceived grievances during the past 30 years. Well now I feel it is legitimate to blame females for our immigration mess.

Make a holy war…When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them…If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya (tax). If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them."

The Summer of Drugs

Ted Nugent takes on the 60’s

"Forty years ago hordes of stoned, dirty, stinky hippies converged on San Francisco to "turn on, tune in, and drop out," which was the calling card of LSD proponent Timothy Leary. Turned off by the work ethic and productive American Dream values of their parents, hippies instead opted for a cowardly, irresponsible lifestyle of random sex, life-destroying drugs and mostly soulless rock music that flourished in San Francisco."

Affirmative Action

"It increases group conflict, as resentment by the punished groups grows and the demands of the beneficiaries increase. It emphasizes group differences, rather than eliminating them. It discourages effort by the beneficiaries, who come to expect special privileges. And it destroys equality before the law".

Dirk Hermann

Environmentalism

...the new death cult?

Today, it is environmentalists who make shrill warnings about the end of the world. In God Is Not Great, Hitchens attacks those religious fanatics who "beguile themselves and terrify others with horrific visions of apocalypse", yet he endorses the environmentalist outlook of planetary doom when he muses on "the death of the species and the heat death of the universe". If anything, his secular hellfire warnings are more terrifying than those propagated by the small religious rabble that still believes God is making his way to earth on a chariot of fire.

Democrats

The democrats will not support the war on terror until Al Qaeda attacks Hollywood or San Francisco. Even then, it’s questionable how enthusiastic their support would be. But we can hope, can't we?

Wal-Mart

When the first Wal-Marts opened they proudly boasted of American-made products. But now almost 75% of their products are from foreign countries. Wal-Mart has become the dumping ground of cheaply made products that are sometimes dangerous to your pets and children. And they aren’t overly generous in the pay and benefits area either. Do you think we are cutting our own throats?

Pardons by President Clinton

Liberals are in a hissy fit over Bush's quasi-pardon of Scooter Libby. They have forgotten the number of pardons that their saint, Bill Clinton, issued during his administration.

Get over it, all presidents issue pardons. Most are for political reasons. Some are done for contributions to presidential libraries.

Shamnesty supporters in a funk.
Americans should remember Mark Twain's words,
"No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

Defense spending

The U.S. government spends 23.6% of its budget on military spending. This is a huge amount of money. I am wondering why only 160,000 troops can be placed on the ground in Iraq while at the same time the military is said to be "stretched too thin."

Something doesn’t add up. Almost 24% of government spending! And it only gets 160,000 troops on the ground? During World War II we had milliions of men and women in uniform. And they won the war in less than 4 years. Something doesn’t add up.

Blacks aren’t racist

...are they?

"A federal judge has ruled that a majority-black county in eastern Mississippi violated whites’ voting rights in what prosecutors said is the first lawsuit to use the Voting Rights Act on behalf of whites."

"U.S. District Judge Tom S. Lee ruled late Friday that Noxubee County Democratic Party leader Ike Brown and the county Democratic Executive Committee "manipulated the political process in ways specifically intended and designed to impair and impede participation of white voters and to dilute their votes."

Al Gore vs Science

This blog post has some interesting counterpoints to Al Gore’s so-called science. In my opinion Chicken Little is more scientific than Gore. What a clown.

Global Warming the Cause of Everything

"The global warming craze is a bonanza for scientists. If you can find some connection to global warming for what you want to research, your chances of getting funding are much increased. The story below is an example of that in action. The justification for the research in terms of global warming is however deeply flawed — but flawed in a way that few non-scientists would recognize. Even assuming that global warming will continue, see if you can see at least two flaws in the proposal below. Answers at the foot of the article."

Record Texas Rainfall in June

Al Gore and his followers can supposedly predict the weather for the coming years but meteorologists are not so accurate 3 months ago....

"As recently as March, meteorologists were predicting dry conditions in April, May and June."

Islam

Let’s assume that all the chips fell the jihadis’ way, that they recruited enough volunteers to be able to kidnap and decapitate every single Jew in Palestine. Then what? Muslims would still be, as Pakistan’s General Musharraf told a conference the other day, "the poorest, the most illiterate, the most backward, the most unhealthy, the most unenlightened, the most deprived, and the weakest of all the human race." Who would "the victim of the world" blame next? The evidence of the Sudan, Nigeria, and other parts of Africa suggests that, when there are no Jews at hand, the Islamofascists happily make do with killing Christians. In Kashmir, it’s the Hindus’ fault. There’s always someone.
